can i run my air purifier 24/7

My IQair Pro has to have it’s perfect filters changed about every 2 years. This is if it is only used for 1/3 a day at half speed.

And yet, in my house, 1 hour of max speed will clear the air.

I don’t want to pay 100’s of dollars every 6 months for a set of new filters.

Now… my purifier is one of the best, filtering down to 1/10 the size of the coronavirus. It can get ‘dirty’ pretty easily. Cheaper purifiers won’t suffer the same speed of getting dirty. They are typically catching 350 nm, not my 5 nm.

And beware… some of these cheap purifiers need many, like 10, full runs of all the room air through them to catch all their ‘hepa-filter’ specification.

How do you use an air purifier? Do you need to turn on the air purifier 24/7?

Usually, the manufacturing companies prefer running air purifiers 24/7 for optimum benefits, which I would recommend as well. You should use your unit’s medium setting for 24/7 operation. Choose the high setting only when you need quick air filtration as well as circulation. On the other hand, if your air purifier is noisy, use the low setting for noiseless operation.

A standard HEPA air purifier usually uses 200W on its highest setting and 50W on its lowest setting, while a computer uses 365W on average. So you don’t have to worry about a high electricity bill if you keep your unit on all day long. There are many Energy Star® certified air purifier that will also help you save on your energy costs.

Should I turn off my air purifiers when I’m not at home?

Unless you are afraid your electrical system is faulty and might start a fire, why? If you don’t want to run it constantly, to save electricity ( side note: it uses very little), wouldn’t it make more sense to leave it on while you are gone?

Your purifier is processing all the air in the room, removing contaminants. The more time air had to cycle through it, the cleaner it gets, especially in a large room.
